traveling in Central America by chicken bus?

I am planning to travel before I study abroad next spring, and want to do it as cheaply as possible (while still being safe!) I have experience traveling in Central America (though not on my own) and I know that chicken buses are much cheaper than bus companies like ticabus. However, it is very hard to find information about chicken buses online since they are mostly local. Does anybody have experience traveling from country to country in Central America by chicken bus? If so, I’d love to hear how it worked and get some advice about planning my trip. Thanks!

I am from California and have traveled by bus extensively in Central and South America including chicken buses. These buses are good for local transportation or within a country for short distances. Also, these buses really don’t go long distances. Buses in Central America incl. TICA BUS are pretty inexpensive. Besides, chicken buses are far away from safe. Safety has the lowest priority on these buses.

Enjoy your trip.

Gotobus is ur answer

Travel the safest, money can always be made up. but if you are harmed or killed that can leave permanent damage. mentally and uhhh possibly forever. be safe.

money isn’t a substitute for safety.

hope this helps,
